Harrison-Mangus Wedding

Garytt and I flew back to Kansas on Friday, October 21 in order to attend a wedding in Wichita on Saturday. I was particularly excited to go to this wedding because I have known the bride (Danielle Harrison) since she was born. The bride's mother (Dana) and my mother grew up together, so the families have known each other my whole life. And the bride's older sister (Samantha) is a good friend of mine. So, I was excited to be able to travel back to Kansas to share the special day!

Now, you would think since I just went to a wedding in Texas a month prior to this wedding and the batteries in my camera died that I might have been a little more prepared...yeah, not so much. The camera itself didn't die but the batteries for the flash did, so many of the pictures didn't turn out that well.

The wedding ceremony was held outside under a tent and then we moved inside for dinner. The ceremony site was then converted to the dance floor. The weather was just beautiful for an outdoor wedding!

I am beginning to appreciate the convenience of outdoor weddings for kids. Grandpa stayed in the very back with Garytt and let him wander around a bit during the ceremony. He was quite entertained and didn't make any noise. Yes!

Unfortunately, I wasn't really in a very good position to get any good photos during the ceremony based on where I was sitting. But here are a few attempts to get a good shot.

Mother of the Bride - Dana

Maid of Honor - Samantha

Samantha didn't make it very far down the aisle before her daughter came running to her. Her daughter, Olivia, was the flower girl. So, Samantha walked with her down the aisle.

Here comes the bride!

Here are a few more snap shots of the ceremony...lots of heads are in my way.

The first kiss...he dipped her, so it's hard to see.

Mr. and Mrs. Mangus!

She looks thrilled!

After the ceremony, the wedding party went out to take some pictures. So, they served caramel apples as an appitizer. Garytt loved them...although I tried to limit the amount of caramel...for the sake of keeping his clothes somewhat clean. The location, which was Old Cow Town, also had some old barns and wagons and such to go see. So, Aunt Becca entertained Garytt by going to check those things out while we waited for dinner to start.

Once the wedding party was back and they were announced, it was time to eat! (This is where the flash really started to go downhill!)

I was excited that we were able to get in the line for food pretty quickly because Garytt was really ready to eat! After dinner, it was time to cut the cake!

Cutting the cake

Garytt was entertained by coloring and trying to get a hold of coke and cell phones during the cake cutting and speeches.

Finally, it was time for the dancing to start! (You will notice that I put a sweater on Garytt because the temperature had dropped quite a bit...not sure how the bride wasn't freezing!) Grandpa held Garytt during the first line dance of the night.

Then, the Coybow Shuffle came on and I was just cracking up because my mom, Dana, and another long time friend of theirs, Mary Jo, were the only three people doing the dance that were over 30. You go girls!!

My mom is in the back in the line farthest to the left, then Dana is in the next line, and Mary Jo is in the line farthest to the right...it's very difficult to see.

Garytt surprisingly stayed on the sidelines despite Grandma and Grandpa encouraging him to boogie. I think it was just way past his bedtime.

I enjoyed being a part of Danielle and Kiel's special day! We had to leave the party early to put Garytt to bed (although it was still way past his bedtime). Grandma and Grandpa stayed to enjoy the rest of the party. It's ironic that it used to be the other way around...my parents would turn in early and my sister and I would stay out late.
