These two were being fostered together and were already buddies, so we thought we would see how it went having both of them at our house. We officially adopted the tan one and Westyn named her Aggie Football and we call her Aggie.
She was the puppy that caught my attention on the rescue website because she reminds me so much of our Ellie girl. Ellie was a Rhodesian ridgeback cross that we adopted from a rescue 9 years ago. We had to put her down over the summer due to a tumor in her head. Here are a few pics of Ellie back when we first adopted her. (You can see the similarities!)
Ellie had the best personality, although she had a bit of a destructive puppyhood, and was so great with the boys. When I saw this puppy on the rescue website, I just knew we needed to meet her. Her name was Katie Mae and she is a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Boxer mix, what are the chances?!
She was the last puppy left from her litter and they were rescued from an abandoned farm in Missouri. All their tails were docked in a crude manner, (the rescue speculated it was probably done with scissors-poor puppies!) so some of the puppies had a hard time getting their tails to heal. Her tail is obviously not done well but it healed up ok. This sweet girl had to come home with us!
We decided to bring home her buddy, too. We brought this puppy home as a foster. We agreed to foster her for up to a month on a trial basis to see if having two puppies would be a good fit for us. We named her Aggie Wrangler or Wrangler for short.
Westyn is our true animal lover. So, most of the pictures are with him bonding with the dogs. The very first day he was "training" them. He looked a little like a lion tamer to me.

We had a decent amount of snow fall just a few days after they came home. Everyone enjoyed playing in the snow!

About a week later, we had another snow day. This time they got to go outside while it was actively snowing.
It's a little hard to tell in some of these pictures but when we adopted Aggie, she was pretty under weight. So, we had to make sure both puppies were getting enough food. Well, Aggie had no trouble putting on the weight and is now at a healthy weight. Here are a few more pictures of the pups playing outside on a nice, sunny day.
Despite the fact that it was great that the puppies had a friend to keep them occupied during the day, having two puppies didn't work out that well for us. The puppies really liked to play rough with each other, which was fine as long as they kept it outside. However, that also translated to them trying to play rough with the boys, especially Wrangler, who was the more rambunctious puppy. The pups were growing fast and Westyn, despite his love for the dogs, just isn't big enough to assert enough control over them. It was a very hard decision for us, but it became apparent that it wasn't going to be fair to Wrangler when the boys started asking for Wrangler to be kept inside when they went outside to play. So, we ended up letting the rescue know that we wanted to try to find her a new home.
It wasn't long before we were contacted and a young couple with no kids were interested in Wrangler. She now has a great home where she can get through her puppy stage before any young kids are around.
So, our puppy adoption journey only ended up with one new family member. But she is a keeper for sure!
