Another Fun Semester at The Little Gym

The second week in January was Show Week at The Little Gym.

Westyn showed us his skills.


Of course, he really loves bubble time!


At the end of class, each kid received a certificate. They were all pretty excited about their certificate and we couldn't get them to look at the cameras.


Garytt was a little more hyper than normal during his show week. He really can do his skills better than he shows in some of these videos but he's quite a ham.

His class started by showing us their floor routine.


Next up was his bar routine.


Finally, it was time to see his balance beam routine.


After all their routines, each kid received a medal.


Then it was time for the group photo. (Check out the first photo with that crazy face...silly boy!) The dad of the little girl that is standing right beside Garytt told me just last week that Lily loves Garytt. Apparently, she goes home and tells stories about how funny it was when Garytt ran into the wall or when Garytt fell over, etc. Apparently, he is the class clown.


There was a little bit of time left at the end of his class, so they were allowed to have free play. And since Westyn was there to watch the show, they both played in the gym together.


As always, the boys enjoyed another semester at The Little Gym.

New Year's Day

We celebrated New Year's Day by making our 2nd annual St. Basil's Day cake. This is now officially a tradition in the Brown house. I wrote out the story of St. Basil in last year's post, if you are interested.

I made the pans of jello ahead of time. The boys were eager to cut out the "jewels."


Then it was time to add the filling.


We put our jewel cake in the fridge while the boys went to have their "quiet time." Of course, the first thing they asked for when they woke up was the jewel cake.


I do have to admit, I really enjoy this jello jewel cake!

Justin also makes a more traditional New Year's Day meal consisting of black-eyed peas and cabbage.


The boys and I aren't too big on eating it though. Hopefully Justin eats enough for all of us to have good luck in the new year!

December Randomness

In early December, while watching Toy Story, Garytt decided to dress up like Woody and dress Westyn as Buzz. (This was well before Santa actually brought them Woody and Buzz shirts.) I'm not really sure why Buzz has a fishing pole sword but it was pretty cute.


Relaxing.


Justin had a team building day where they all were able to paint a tiger's eye. Justin was pretty proud of his art work.

Justin received some pretty cool glasses from his Secret Santa.


Garytt also loved those glasses.


The boys were telling Great Grandma Mary stories about seeing the trains right before Christmas. (Don't I look super interested in Garytt's story.)  They also sang some Christmas carols to her.


As we contiued to chat with my grandma, the boys decided to play with the light in her room.


Crazy haired Batman was interested in the Sunday ads.

Mr. Potato Head still remains one of the boys favorite toys. And, after Christmas, we have a lot of Potato Head pieces and the boys love all the choices!


Well, it took me until mid-January but I was finally able to wrap up all our December fun!
