Acting Summer Camp for Garytt

In August, just before school started, I found a week long, half day acting summer camp. The theme for the week was super heroes! Awesome! Garytt was the youngest in the group but I think he held his own and had a fun time!

On the last day, they interviewed each of the campers and then had small group performances. Unfortunately, I only had my phone with me, so the quality of pictures is pretty poor...especially since I had the "help" of Westyn pulling on me while trying to record and take pictures...but here they are.

First, the interview.

His small group performance.

The super hero after the show.

Garytt has been in acting classes in the past, but I will say that this group really focused on creative thinking as well as acting. He would come home with story boards of plays he came up with himself every day. They also built their own shields throughout the week. The small group performance was a collaborative effort of the kids in the group. I am sure that Garytt followed along with the older kids but I liked how much of the program was directed by the kids themselves! I hope we can do the summer camps again next summer! I love the creative outlet for my wild, silly, creative boy!

July Randomness

Here are the random photos from July.

Two very tired boys at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

It's Spiderman...oh, wait, it's Westyn...

Before we left Missouri, Garytt actually had to get a filling in one of his molars...poor guy.

He was a trooper and got to pick a prize. He picked a mustache. And he had to keep those cotton rolls in his mouth for an hour or so.

While I took Garytt to the dentist, Westyn spent some time on MU campus with Justin.

We had some ice cream and said good-bye to the Vlosich family...our fellow Texas transplants.

Westyn received a bad haircut earlier in the month, so to compensate, we tried to buzz his hair like we do with Garytt...I wasn't a big fan but lots of people said he looked even more like Garytt with that haircut.

My packing helper...

During the unpacking at the new house, we set up the small t.v. on the fireplace temporarily. Garytt was cracking me up taking a million pictures while watching The Little Mermaid. When I asked him about it, he said that way he could look through the pictures later and remember the movie...funny boy!

Apparently, pictures of Ariel got boring, so he decided to take very close pictures of himself.

The boys really love the backyard!

And making faces at us through the window...

The boys rediscovered some toys while unpacking.

Grandma had a surprise waiting for the boys at their house when we were on our way to Jacob's party. A friend of hers had some old costumes from her grandchildren and, knowing how much these boys like to dress up, offered them to us. The boys loved them! Buzz Lightyear and a Power Ranger!

Grandpa and the grandsons...well, all the grandsons that can walk.

Justin came back from a conference with some hats for the boys and then he sent them out to clean up all the apples that had fallen off the apple tree in our backyard...it was actually a big job but they seemed to have fun.

We were still trying to phase out nap time for Garytt over the summer. So, I would let him watch some t.v. while Westyn napped...he often ended up falling asleep too.

During our first month here in Lincoln, we had to visit the UNL Dairy Store on east campus! Yum!!

The boys received a special package in the mail from Aunt Shira...

The boys are hard at work practicing letters while Justin works.

July was a busy month full of transitions!

Omaha Children's Museum

Towards the end of July, we decided to go to Omaha for a day. This was prompted by the fact that I really wanted to go shopping for some new bedroom furniture at Nebraska Furniture Mart. In order to make the outing more bearable for the boys, we took them to the Omaha Children's Museum after shopping. (As a bonus, this museum is part of our Science City membership!) The boys were excited to finally get to the museum!

It was quite busy and chaotic inside but they enjoyed it.

There was a special Lego exhibit there that the boys enjoyed, especially racing the cars they made.

After a fun afternoon at the museum, it was time to go back to Nebraska Furniture Mart and pick up our new furniture.

The boys were wiped out.

We made it home and brought the furniture upstairs...which I have to say was quite a feat...I really thought I was going to loose my grip and drop the dresser on Justin! Good news is that I didn't!

What a great day!
