Weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's House

In mid-September, we went to Topeka for the weekend, as did the Poloks. There's not much better than having all the cousins together! Garytt, Westyn, and Jacob played the game Feed the Woozle.

Great Great Aunt Betty and Levi watched the Woozle fun.

If you have never had young kids play the game Feed the Woozle, I highly recommend it! It is really funny to watch the kids try to get the food to the Woozle while bunny hopping, spinning, etc.

Pretty soon the Woozle game lead into a dance party and "cannon ball" party. First, Grandma led the boys in some dance moves. Then the boys decided it was hilarious to jump on the floor and yell "cannon ball."

Good morning Levi!

The next day we went to visit Betty at her apartment. They had a miniature train set up in the common area, which the boys enjoyed watching.

We also took an outing to Chuck E. Cheese. The boys had a blast, of course.

Even Levi enjoyed it.

Uncle Kyle took the boys out in the field to play soccer (but all we have is a volleyball).

It was a fun weekend!

August Randomness

August was busy not only with the start of school but also trying to get settled in to our house. We did a few projects that helped the house start to feel like ours. First, we painted the living room. Here's the before (which actually doesn't look that bad but really isn't my pallet.)

And here we have painted the room...obviously it is still lacking art and decor but I already felt so much better about the space.

We also updated our bedroom with a new bedspread. Again, still lacking pictures on the wall but a fresh look for our bedroom.

We painted our half bath on the main level as well. The previous owners had a very dark color/faux Venetian plaster look. I think it made the room feel small. So, we painted a brighter blue but left the plaster look because, frankly, we didn't want to deal with all the sanding. And it really does brighten the place up! (Again, there is more work to be done in this space...but this is a huge improvement.)

We also started updating our outlets...I know it seems like a really small thing but the outlets in the house were all almond colored and some were even broken, like this one.

So, we replaced them with child safety, bright white outlets.

And Justin was really excited to install these outlets by our nightstands.

I will admit that when Justin was so insistent upon changing out all the outlets, I felt like it was a project that could wait. However, the new outlets really do freshen up the space and look much better on the walls.

So, I have issues picking out wall colors...paint chips...the struggle is real.

I went to the paint department in Home Depot so many time to get paint chips and buy paint, one of the guys finally asked if I would like to have a paint chip collection for home. Why, yes, yes I would!

So, although I haven't actually picked a new wall color yet for the kitchen, I did go ahead a create our family command center. There is an erasable calendar, places to hang artwork, etc. It still needs a few more things...like the chore charts, but it's a good start.

We also spruced up our outside space with this new table. It took a long time to find a patio table that Justin and I both agreed on. We really love being able to go outside to eat, weather permitting and the boys love to color outside now.

Now on to the true random pictures from August.

I have a knight in shining armor at my breakfast bar.

"Look, I'm a tiger..."

Always take time to stop and smell the roses flowers...

Just a little back to school shopping...yes, we totally brought the car grocery cart from the store next door into Target...

My recycling helpers.

Creativity with blocks.

Since we have cluster boxes here, getting the mail is quite a daily adventure. The boys love getting the mail and are good at taking turns using the key. On super special days, they find packages addressed to them...and it really makes their day.

These particular packages were from Grandma and Grandpa and they contained Star Wars jelly beans...which prompted Garytt to go get his light saber.

Garytt was so excited about the jelly beans, he drew a picture and thank you note.

Boys and their water guns...with no water.

Westyn received a list of rules to go over at home...his face tells me the rules are serious business.

Westyn and I waiting for Garytt in the courtyard at school.

Sometimes the sun is so bright he has to share mommy's glasses.

Garytt's class takes turns bringing in snacks for the class. He did a great job of measuring and mixing up the snack to share.

Card games...

Excited for picture day, which means non-uniform shirt day.

Playing with dad in the yard.

Playground time.

Garytt working hard.

Love these crazy boys!

Here are a few videos of the boys having fun with hula hoops.
