February 2018 Randomness

Westyn made quite the hat in class on day and wanted his picture taken in it.

Garytt wanted me to show him how certain settings on the camera worked. He really enjoyed his close up.

I finally started trying to pick colors for the walls. We lived with stripes for a while.

Then I finally decided and we hired some painters. It was a mess but I was so glad to have it done!

Garytt's dance class.

No idea why Westyn wanted to pose like this for the movie but he requested it.

Garytt had some complaints about his vision so I took him in to have his eyes checked again, even though we were just in last August. As it turned out, his script had changed a bit. So, we shopped for new glasses. He is a hoot when he tries on glasses.

These were the winners.

"Can I take your order?"

Aggie.

Apparently this is so funny.

Towards the end of February, there was a day that was warm enough for us bike over to the school parking lot and do a little soccer practice.

Garytt brought home his spelling test as usual one week but we cracked up at how he labeled his name at the top. I think the teacher didn't appreciate it too much seeing that she commented on his handwriting, but I would say this pretty much sums him up. "Garytt Brown The One and Only." I sure do love his confidence and personality.

2018 Pinewood Derby

The boys were excited to prepare their cars for the Pinewood Derby event. They did all their own preparations with very little help from us. I really think that it is important that they do the work and learn from the project.

February 10, 2018 was the Pinewood Derby event. The boys were dressed in their cub scout uniforms and had their cars ready!

The Lions went first. There were just two of them but they were excited to see their cars race.

Pretty soon it was Garytt's den's turn. They have a much larger den so there were quite a few more heats. They also asked each scout to stand and tell their name and how old they are.

Here they are after the races.

Westyn ended won a trophy. He won 2nd place in his den...a den of two. He was excited nonetheless.

Westyn's Winter Basketball Clinic

Westyn was able to participate in the YMCA Kindergarten basketball clinic this year. They don't have teams for that age group, so the clinic run for several weeks at the end of January and beginning of February and introduces basketball to the kids.

He had a great time and will be ready to play on a team next year!
