Chillaxin'

The nice weather in June has provided good reason to break out the sunglasses. Westyn loves to steal Garytt's glasses, which, is all good if Garytt doesn't notice.

The nice weather also means the boys have spent quite a bit of time out on our deck. They both love to just sit in the chair on the deck and chill.

Even Ellie enjoys chillaxin' on the deck.

Of course, it's always cute when Ellie and Westyn play, too.

Sometimes it's not all fun and games out on the deck, though, and one or both of the boys have to go to timeout and sit on the wall. Justin caught one of these moments and it is priceless!

Despite the nice weather, often the best way to chillax on a Saturday is to stay in your PJs all morning and just play with puzzles.

I normally post about all the crazy, busy things we are doing. But, as you can see, we all enjoy some downtime, too.

Father's Day

We decided to have a pretty low key Father's Day this year. We went to brunch after church because I had found a coupon and I know Justin loves brunch buffets. I didn't get any pictures at brunch though.

Then, after quiet time, Justin really wanted to take the boys out to Rock Bridge Park here in town. So, we decided to pick up some Subway and have a little picnic dinner out there before going hiking. It was so humid outside that when I tried to take a picture with my camera it had condensation on the lens.

So, I used Justin's phone to take a few pictures while my big camera acclimated.

After dinner, we headed into the park. The scenery was quite lovely, despite the humidity levels.

The boys enjoyed the bridge right at the entrance.

We eventually moved on. Most of the pathways were actually wooden, which was nice. But the fencing on either side really wasn't toddler proof. So, the boys were making us pretty nervous that their curiosity would cause an accident. So, we held their hands most of the way.

Once we were towards the back, we found the natural rock bridge that the park is named after.

Garytt wanted to get a better look.

And, apparently, you can go explore under he rock bridge at your own risk. Definitely not up for that with toddlers!!

Then, we walked back to the stairs we passed on the way to the rock bridge to climb up and get a view from above.

I also took a picture of the guys at the top.

Then, we decided to head back to the car. It was so humid we were all sweaty and ready for a drink of water. Check out Westyn's awesome hair.

Garytt found a stick on the way back to the car and decided he was the leader. So we sang follow the leader and headed back to the car.

We had a fun evening out at the park and a Happy Father's Day!

Polok Baby Shower

Saturday, June 8 I helped my Great Aunt Betty host a baby shower for Bec.

We sent out the invitations a few weeks prior to that.

Of course, there were a number of things to do in preparation for the shower. I had a helper in the kitchen when I baked the cookies and the cake.

After the baking process, I handled the cookie decorating without the help of little hands. However, Justin did help make the little elephants for the cookies using a pattern from the invitations.

I was nervous about putting the elephants on the cookies, but the process went better than I expected...until I crushed some of the cookies and had to make another batch... In the end, I think they turned out pretty cute.

The morning of the shower, my mom and I went over to the restaurant early to set up. She had been doing a number of things in preparation for the shower as well! She made cake balls with little baby feet on them and the absolutely adorable diaper motorcycle for Dumbo to sit on. (We picked up that Dumbo when we were at Disney!)

As you can see, on the main table, there were also some other fun items like a Dumbo plate set, Dumbo the movie, Horton Hears a Who, and a circus Lego set.

We decorated the tables with some artwork for the baby's room and some toys. My mom also made some cute mint cup holders to look like baby booties. (As a side note, when the restaurant said they provided table cloths, we didn't think to ask what color...red really wasn't in our color palate...oops.)

Everyone received a cookie and a bag of peanuts as a Thank You.

After we all had a chance to eat some pizza, it was time for the games. We played a game where I had famous TV families listed and you had to fill in the blanks with the names of the kids. I used some like Cosby Show, Patridge Family, Brady Bunch, etc. This game proved to be harder than I thought it was going to be. Lelia was the big winner of that game and she received some elephant ears and some hand soap. The prize for Bec for this game was a baby monitor.

Then we played a pricing game where everyone got to look at some common baby items and then pick the items and the quanity it would take to reach $100. The prize winner for that was Aunt Sharon. She also received some elephant ears and hand soap. Bec's prizes were all the baby items!

Then it was time for some cake! But I had to get a quick picture of the soon-to-be mom first.

While everyone was eating cake, we started the gift opening.

Garytt, Olivia, and Addison opted to make a fort under the table and watch a movie at this point. It was so funny. At one point we noticed that one would come out and go back in, then another...etc. Dana noticed that they were each grabbing two cake balls each time and taking them back to their camp. So, we had to put the cake balls up higher...they had enough...but that was pretty funny, too.

Towards the end of the gift opening, Garytt came out to check things out and "help." He came out just in time to see the precious blanket and booties that Great Aunt Betty knitted for Baby Polok. (Did you notice his clip on tie with his shirt...he specifically wanted to wear that tie to the party for Becca...so funny.)

The only thing that would have made this day better was if Great Aunt Betty could have been there to celebrate as well.  We did send her a care package that included the cookies, peanuts, games and such so that she could see some of the items first hand.

(I also wish I had been able to take a few more pictures...like Westyn was at the shower and there isn't one picture of him.  I thinnk I was trying to do too many things and just snapped pictures when I could.)

Thanks to all the friends and family who came to celebrate with us! We had a great time and I know we all can't wait to meet Baby Polok! It will only be a few more weeks as he is due on July 13!
