Memorial Day

We usually like to go to the Union Station celebration for Memorial Day. However, this year, we had just gotten back from Topeka and Justin had been away at his conference, so we decided not to travel for the holiday. I looked up some information and found out that Columbia has a Memorial Day Parade.

So, we got the boys ready and headed out to the parade route. Unfortunately, no sooner had we gotten out of the car to go find a spot to watch the parade, did someone come up to us and say that the parade had been cancelled due to the weather. We were pretty surprised because, although the skies weren't blue, they also didn't look like there was going to be a huge storm right away. But, I guess they couldn't really tell exactly when the front was going to come in, so they were playing it safe since the parade involved some aircraft and parachutes.

There were a few planes flying that Garytt enjoyed watching.

It's hard to take kids somewhere and then turn around and put them right back in the car. So, we let them play on the stairs and ramp of the Columbia Tribune for a few minutes.

I also took the opportunity to get a quick picture with the boys.

So, this isn't exactly how we thought our Memorial Day would go. And Garytt was definitely disappointed. But, maybe the weather will cooperate a little better next year.
