New House Aug 2017

On Aug 7, 2017, we closed on our new house. This is our 6th house to own in our 10 years of marriage and we hope to stay here a long time. Our house is in midtown and very close to the boys' school.

After we lived in Wisconsin and owned an old house with lots of charm (some of it we had to uncover), we knew we really wanted to be in another old house. This house was built in 1935 (not quite as old as our 1915 house in Wisconsin) and has lots of beautiful woodwork. These are pictures from closing day and a few from the days we were just moving in. Of course I will have to change the paint, etc.

We also have a finished basement, which helps keep the kids fun zone away from the main rooms.

One of the old world gems of this house, is this old delivery box for milk and packages.

Despite having a much smaller backyard than our house in north Lincoln, we have a large deck, a balcony on the 2nd story to oversee the backyard, and the boys still have a play set. And there are lots of trees, which Justin loves.

The boys wasted no time testing out the swings. The neighbor boys over the fence were playing basketball and the boys decided to cheer them on.

The biggest drawback is that our house is on one of the busiest streets in Lincoln, but it hasn't been a huge issues for us because we are just half a block from a side street.

We also had an issue arise past our inspection time frame where we found out that all the old wiring would have to be updated, which is a huge task. So, we couldn't make any of the painting choices or decor choices right away.  Despite that delay, we love the house and love living in midtown.
