Pumpkin Carving 2016

The boys were excited to start carving pumpkins!  Grandma and Grandpa happened to be in town that weekend, so they got to join in on the fun, too.


First, we rinsed and dried them off.


Then it was time to choose the face designs while Grandpa cut open the tops.


Next, they had to clean and scoop out the insides. Garytt really wasn't too thrilled about that. And even after giving him a glove to prevent his hands from getting too messy, Grandma had to step in and help him scoop. Westyn was a little more into the process but still needed some help.

 
Grandpa came up with the idea to score the carving designs so that the boys could finish the carving with plastic knives. That worked out great and the boys felt like they got to do most of the carving!


All done.


That night, we tested them out with lights in them.


We had one extra pumpkin and the boys asked if I would carve a cross in it for All Saints Day.  Simple but effective.
