Garytt's October Preschool Review

Garytt's October preschool adventures started with Pumpkin Week. They did all sorts of projects relating to pumpkins and worked on the letter "P." I think Garytt's favorite part was the pumpkin playdough.


He enjoyed playground time, too. (And you can see the weather was still quite nice based on his clothes.)


The next week was Transportation Week. They did some counting using dice, cars, and a parking mat. (And G really wanted to wear his train pants for the first day of transportation week.)


They also did a project where they used toy cars and trucks to make track marks out of paint.
 

I rarely post pictures of the other kids doing their work but I thought this was a pretty big contrast. While Garytt's lines were very precise, most of the pictures from this project looked like this...


It looks like clean-up for this project was quite involved and required them to go outside.


Here are some pictures of other projects form Transportation Week. (Notice that G's airplane is the only green one...yes, he's totally obsessed with green.)


The following week was Fire Safety Week. They made fireman hats and badges.
 

The big fun that day was that the Columbia Fire Department visited LODO. Garytt loved his hat so much, he looks like he was the only one in class to keep it on during the presentation.


The firemen talked to the kids for a bit and then put on all their equipment. Garytt was the only one in his class to go up and give the fireman a hug in his gear! It's good to know that he wouldn't be too scared to go up to a fireman in an emergency.


Of course, each child was allowed to go inside the fire truck, too.


It looks like the firemen demonstrated the horn and/or siren for the kids on their way out.


The fire truck demonstration must have thrown off the schedule because it looks like they had an all school story time and snack time...you can just look for the paper hat in the crowd to find G.


He loved that hat so much he wore it on the playground...


And most of the evening at home.


He also is much more aware of smoke detectors and things that can be fire dangers. 

That sums up Garytt's adventures in preschool during October, except for his Halloween Party. He did miss one week at school for our family vacation to California (posts to come).
