2011 Skahan Family 4th of July Picnic

I was very excited that we were able to plan our trip back to Kansas around the 4th of July because my mom's side of the family has an annual reunion on the 4th. Even though we moved around a lot as I was growing up, I remember we would try to make it back to Kansas most years for the 4th of July picnic. I hope that even though we no longer live in Kansas, we can continue to make it back for the 4th of July and Garytt will grow up with fonds memories, as I have.

Garytt and his distant cousin Gavin (Gavin's dad is my mom's first cousin...not really sure what kind of cousin that makes Garytt and Gavin) took a wagon ride together. It was absolutely adorable...and I can't get over how these cousins really look like they could be brothers! (Even their names are similar...Garytt Kort and Gavin Quinn.)

Jeff and Kathy Skahan always graciously host this picnic. They have several horses and Kathy leads the older kids around on horseback rides. Then she got on and allowed the younger kids to ride with her. So...Garytt had his first horseback riding experience...a proud moment for his mama...but he wasn't too sure about it. Maybe next year he will appreciate it a little more.

Cousin Gavin was very nice to let Garytt play with his lawn mower while we were there too. Garytt really enjoyed pushing it around and spent a lot of time doing it!











It's all fun and games until the meltdown begins!



We couldn't stay for the night works because we had to put Garytt to bed and he was definitely worn out! But it was a great day!
