When we told Garytt we were going to the library to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, he wanted to wear his Cat in the Hat hat. (Ok, when we told him he had no idea what we were talking about but when we asked him if he wanted to wear his hat, he said yes.) So, we put on his snow boots (yes, we did finally get enough snow to require snow boots) and out the door we went.
Garytt and Justin had some time outside before I was able to get myself and Westyn totally ready. So, Justin took some pictures outside in the snow.

It was pretty busy when we arrived at the library, as expected. They had different rooms set up. One was the video and coloring room. We started in there because the other rooms were pretty full. Garytt instantly wanted to watch the Grinch cartoon that was playing. He walked right up to the front to get the best view. We convinced him to at least sit in a chair in the front row. He didn't even care that we weren't sitting next to him.
He did eventually loose interest in the video (he really only focuses on videos or cartoons for 10 minutes or so at a time). So, we had him "sign" his name on the birthday card for Dr. Seuss.
Next we gave Garytt some of the coloring sheets they had available. He made himself comfortable in the middle of the floor to color.
After coloring for a bit, we headed into the reading room. They had all the Dr. Seuss books available to read. Although there were many Dr. Seuss books that we don't own and would be new and fun for Garytt to read, he ALWAYS picks the original The Cat in the Hat book when we go to the library...it must be his favorite.

When the kids were done reading a book, they received a certificate, a book mark, and a toy Cat in the Hat as prizes. Fun! We headed back into the video room with his prizes and some cake in hand.

Westyn did join us for the birthday celebration but he spent it sleeping...
After we ate the cake, we went into the main part of the kids section to let Garytt play for a bit. Then it was time to head home for nap time! What a fun afternoon!
