Mickey left the boys a little surprise for that morning...new hats. (I'm glad that Mickey understands the need for sun protection as much as I do!)
I was determined to get to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. I had done quite a bit of research prior to our trip and learned that only about 30% of daily guests will make it to rope drop, thus the first hour or so of the park opening is the least busy. Also, since Magic Kingdom had "extra magic hours" in the evening, the morning was predicted to be pleasant. We got a pretty good parking spot and walked to the ticket counter.
We saw the first Mickey of the day as we were walking.
At the ticket counter, we got the boys and Justin buttons that said "My First Visit." Here are the first timers!
Finally, it was time to take the monorail over to Magic Kingdom. We were there in plenty of time but we didn't know exactly where the pre-rope drop show was going to be...so we weren't in the best spot. But it was still fun to see the dancers come out and then the train pulled up with Mickey and and the gang.
Once Mickey and the gang rode in on the train, it was time to officially enter Magic Kingdom! And we got our first view of the castle!
Of course, it was time to get a group photo, too. (It's a good shot of the group, but what's with the Photopass person cutting the castle out of the shot?!)
We also took a peak at the new dwarf ride that is under construction.
Finally, we made it to Dumbo...with absolutely no wait!

Then we took a quick photo in the big Dumbo.
Next on our list was to go to Ariel's Grotto ride...again...no wait!
Garytt and Justin had to check out Scuttle on the way in.
I was pretty impressed with the scenes in this ride.
Looks like Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed it as well.
Prior to getting on Ariel's ride, Justin had gone to get a Fastpass for the Peter Pan ride and got a bonus Fastpass for Mickey's PhilharMagic. So, we did PhilharMagic next.
Here we are waiting to go into the theatre...ready for some 3D fun!
So, this was actually more of a 4D movie that included some mist and some puffs of air. The show was really cute and both of the boys seem to really enjoy it!
After that, it was time to go to the Peter Pan ride. Now, this is one of those rides that everyone insists you get a Fastpass for because the lines get really long really fast. So, my expectations were pretty high. I wouldn't say it was a bad ride but it is a pretty short ride and definitely not worth an hour wait, in my opinion. We had a Fastpass, so waiting wasn't an issue, so it was an enjoyable enough ride, especially for my little Peter Pan fans! It does go pretty quick, so I didn't get any pictures, except for the ship that you get to ride in.
Next it was on to "It's a Small World." This is one of those rides that I distinctly remember from my first visit to Disney World as a little girl. And, yeah, it hasn't changed a bit. I think it must seem more amazing through the eyes of a child but I still liked the ride.
So, by now, we have done all the rides on our schedule in less time than I expected. So, we had some time to go on Prince Charming's Carousel.
We we got off the carousel, we noticed the sword in the anvil from The Sword in the Stone. Of course, we had to see if Garytt would be the next King of England! I will say, he put all his muscle into it!
At that point, we decided to start heading towards the castle for our lunch reservation.
We still had a little time to spare, so we stopped to watch the show that was going on right in front of the castle.
By then, it was time to go check in for our lunch reservations with Cinderella!
