2017 Pacific NW Trip - Travel Day and Day 1

We actually started our summer off with a trip to the Pacific Northwest to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Justin and I did this trip eight years earlier with his Aunt Shira, Uncle Kirk, and Cousin Auggie. We were very excited to return to the beautiful Pacific NW!

We headed out on June 7, 2017. I think the boys were pretty excited for this trip...or it could be the extra tablet time while waiting in the airport.


The boys are becoming very good little travelers. Of course watching a classic movie like Wizard of Oz helps pass the airplane time.

We arrived!


After landing, we got our rental car and headed out. We would be back to Seattle to sight see at the end of our trip but for now we were driving to Birch Bay, WA, a quiet little town farther north. The boys utilized the car time to read and practice math skills.


We arrived in Birch Bay on a bit of a rainy day, which isn't shocking in the Pacific NW. I couldn't get a picture of the outside of our resort, so I found one online that was taken on a beautiful sunny day.


This is the same resort we stayed in during our prior trip. We didn't get a bay view room this time but this picture shows the resort is right across from the bay.


We planned a day to just hang around Birch Bay on June 8. It was a bit rainy again but we had a great day starting with bacon for breakfast. (I love staying in condos so we have a kitchen!)


The boys enjoyed some pool time at the indoor pool.


The boys love having their video taken while jumping in. The last two videos are particularly funny...for some reason slow motion makes everything funnier.


After some swimming, we got dressed and walked down the block to a restaurant for lunch. This was such a good lunch. And since tourist season hadn't really started yet, it wasn't busy at all. (Apparently schools in the area were still in session for another week or so, which made the bay town very quiet.)

After our fabulous lunch, we walked back to the condo to check out the arcade room. We had to take an opportunity to take a picture with the giant yellow pillar that Aunt Shira accidentally backed into on the previous trip. Some things you just can't live down.


We let the boys play a little air hockey for a bit.


We decided the rain wasn't really going to clear that day, so we braved the rain and went out to the bay. The condo had shovels and sand toys that we could borrow. The shovels are actually for clamming, which is a big thing up there but we didn't do any clamming. I think the boys liked playing out by the bay even though it was rainy.


We love Birch Bay!
