Pretty soon he received his jersey and games were under way. Let me just say that being on a team with burnt orange as their color was pretty challenging for us Aggies!
The first game:
Snacks are the best part of any game.
In the pictures from the first game, you can kind of notice how tempting the sand on the field was for Garytt. This fascination with playing in the dirt only progressed throughout the rest of the season. He even did dirt angels on the field during one of games! I will say, his batting seemed to improve throughout the season though. Pictures from other games:
It's important to mention Garytt had a very faithful cheering section all season.
After the last game, the kids each received a medal.
Then, we went out for ice cream to celebrate.
Here are the official team pictures.
Side Note: The tallest coach in the picture and I actually know each other from childhood. It took us about half the season to put it together. But our parents were stationed at McConnell AFB at the same time. Our parents were actually pretty good friends and Joe and I played together a lot while stationed there when we were about 5 or 6 years old. Then, as military lives go, we went our separate ways. Who would think that 25 years later our boys would be on the exact same baseball team in Columbia, MO?! It's a crazy small world sometimes. We hope to get together soon to catch up on the old days and get our parents back together too!
I have to say, 4 year old t-ball is an exercise in patience. The kids get distracted and bored easily. Garytt was especially fascinated with the dirt. But overall it was a fun experience!
