Good-Bye to The Little Gym

The Little Gym had show week early in June as the semester was coming to an end. I didn't know at the time that this would be Garytt's last show week with The Little Gym (if I had, I might have opted for our better camera to take pictures...oh well.)

He started with his floor routine.

Next it was on to the bar routine.

Finally it was time for the balance beam.

They had a little medal ceremony at the end.

Then they had some free time to play. (And Westyn got in on some of the action.)

Sadly The Little Gym announced that it will be closing at the end of the summer session. Garytt is still going to some of the half day gym camps through August but this was the last official semester at The Little Gym.

So, we have explored a new option-Tiger Academy of Gymnastics (TAG). Garytt has been doing classes there for about two months now. They prefer that the kids wear leotards or tight fitting clothes. Well, obviously Garytt isn't going to sport a leotard but I did get him some tight fitting undershirts. He thought it was hilarious that he was going to wear a tank top because girls wear tank tops. Now he calls them his gym shirts. Here he is showing you his big muscles from gymnastics class.

Here are some pictures and videos from his first class.

At first, Garytt was really excited about his "new" gymnastics class because it was novel. Now he seems less excited about it because he says it is "too hard." Well, I do think they push the kids a little harder than his old class but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It is also a little distracting for him with all the other classes going on, but I actually think that helps him see that if he keeps going, he can learn to do flips too. We will have to see at the end of the summer if he still wants to continue or explore a different physical activity.
