On Thursday, February 28, we loaded up the boys and headed out on a trip to Texas for Justin's sister's wedding weekend. We stayed in Oklahoma overnight to break up the trip a little bit for the boys. The boys did really well on the road but we were all happy to have the break. And, the place that we stay at in Oklahoma is a little condo, which means that Garytt gets his own room and Westyn has a crib in our bedroom. That means that we can put the boys to bed on a regular schedule and then hang out and watch TV for a bit...it works out great.
However, about 4am Westyn woke up crying and when I went to check on him, he had a fever! Well, that was a big bummer considering being sick isn't fun, being sick when you aren't at home is worse, and being sick while having an 8 hour drive that day might be the worst. So, we decided to get up and head out earlier than originally planned so we could find a Wal-Mart or pharmacy to get some Tylenol for him. (Yes, the lesson here is NEVER travel without Tylenol because you just never know.)
So, as I said, we love the condo that we stay in...but it is out near Grand Lake and in the middle of NOWHERE! Yeah, it was at least 30 minutes to the nearest Wal-Mart on windy roads. To make matters worse, I am following a GPS and feelig like this is all wrong...yep...it sent us an hour away to small town that didn't have a Wal-Mart and probably never did. Great.
It took us another 20 minutes but we did find a Wal-Mart and finally were able to hit the road. Westyn struggled a little on the trip but did really well all things considered.
Despite heading out early, we were actually a little pressed on time since I followed the GPS to some random location. We needed to be at Ashley's rehearsal by 6pm since Garytt was a ring bearer and Justin was walking Ashley down the aisle, but we were planning to drop Westyn off with Justin's Aunt Shira first since were were staying there that night and so he could rest and hopefully recover before the wedding day.
Fortunately, we just barely made it...I think we pulled up to the rehearsal just a few minutes past 6pm. Whew!
Aunt Ashley gave Garytt his new coyboy hat for the wedding, which he loves! (He is such a hat wearing kid!) He got some quick pictures with Mimi and Cousin Lindsay.
They started the rehearsal shortly after we arrived. Here is Garytt getting lined up right in front of Justin and the bride...he is showing us his Aggie Pride...Gig'em!
I didn't get a picture of him practicing going down the aisle the first time because he did have a little breakdown...not because he was scared but because I asked him to walk slowly instead of run. Yeah, that was my mistake. Think about it, he's been in the car for over 8 hours and hasn't been able to go outside...this is an outside wedding and I am telling him he can't run...obviously I didn't think that through.
During the 2nd run through I made a deal with him....if he walked up the aisle, he could run back down the aisle as he was leaving...that worked! He's all smiles walking with the pretty little flower girl the 2nd time! (There is actually another ring bearer as well but he wasn't too in to walking down the aisle.)
Here he is sitting with Mimi and Aunt Shanna, waiting for Justin and Ashley to walk down the aisle.
Here comes the bride...
Ok, so we didn't really get the memo that the wedding party was going to dress silly for the rehearsal so we weren't really prepared to see groomsmen in silly hats and such. It's kind of funny!
After two full practice runs, it was time to head to the rehearsal dinner and warm up a bit. (Yeah, so it was like near 80 during the day, which felt really warm since we just left a foot of snow back in Missouri...but when the sun went down it got chilly fast! I was glad we had a jacket for G in the car!)
Here's my little cowboy after having a yummy dinner...and cake!
He found the other ring bearer, Sam, out in the hall and the two of them said "hi" and then gave each othe a hug. It was so cute and I happened be close enough to get a couple of pictures.
After a long day, it was definitely time to get Garytt to sleep. So, we headed back to Aunt Shira's house for the night and check on our sick baby boy.
