Pow Wow

While we were visiting my parents last weekend, we attended the Shawnee County Allied Tribes Inter-Tribal Pow Wow.

Garytt really didn't know what we were going to do but he was excited to be going somewhere with Grandma and Grandpa.

When we arrived, the Gourd Dance was going on.

We let Garytt stand on a picnic table bench to get a better view of the dancers. He loved watching it!

We watched the Gourd Dance for a while longer.

Then we decided to get a snack. Grandpa even let Westyn try his water.

Garytt had a hard time focusing on eating, so he went back to watching the dancers.

Westyn was enjoying himself as well!

After the Gourd Dance, there was a grand entry that included many more elaborate wardrobe choices.

During the grand entry, Garytt enjoyed dancing as well.

Then they had a presentation of the flags with the singing of the National Anthem in Navajo.

We enjoyed seeing the elaborate tribal attire and attending the pow wow!

When we left the pow wow, we headed to grab a late dinner. Garytt finished eating and was ready to go outside before everyone else was. So, we took him out for a bit. He was ready to show us his version of the tribal dances while I provided a drum in the background.

Yes, his "dancing" does look a lot like running! Let me just say, he was worn out by the time we got back to Grandma and Grandpa's house!
