Then Garytt was interested in watching Nemo. So, we all just relaxed for a bit.
Then it was Justin's turn to bond a with Westyn.
Then we tried to re-introduce the boys.
Kisses
Grandma and Grandpa showed up a little bit later in the morning. They brought Garytt some stickers and an Elmo pj set. He was super excited about both!
Garytt also discovered how much fun it was to play on the couch. He spent a good part of the day just climbing up and down.
Grandma and Grandpa did get to hang out with Westyn as well.
As an afternoon treat, Justin, Grandma, and Grandpa took Garytt to McDonald's. He had a little snack and was able to play in the kids zone. Apparently, the slide was really for 3 years and up but Garytt seemed to enjoy it still.
While everyone was away, I received some flowers from Garytt and Westyn's Great, Great Aunt Betty and Julius. Aren't they pretty?
When they all returned, we had a little bit of dinner and then just relaxed the rest of the evening. Ok, well, Garytt was a busy boy, as always. He was playing with the stickers, playing with Grandma and Grandpa, and just in general a happy boy. In fact, the nurses all commented on just how well behaved Garytt was during the whole labor and delivery and the next day. I am sure they were really concerned aobut our sanity when we told them he would be with us a majority of the time. But he was a good boy and really we couldn't have asked for anything more from him.
While we were hanging out, we noticed that Westyn was able to lift his head already. We took a few videos of him looking around. He seems so strong already!
The next day we were expecting to leave the hospital around noon or so. It turns out the rounding pediatrician came by pretty early. So, Westyn was discharged in the morning. And the rounding OB, who happened to be a Texas Longhorn, had discharged me the day before...maybe he just wanted to get rid of the Aggies...ha! Actually, he was really nice and he thought it was hilarious that Garytt can already do the "Gig 'Em!" And he did say that he wished he had gone to Texas A&M instead! Whoop! Either way, he was happy to see some southerners so far north.
Anyhow, it took us a little while to gather up our things and actually be ready to leave. Here are the boys hanging out while I started packing up a few things.
Justin dressed Garytt in his "Big Brother" shirt and I put Westyn in his "Little Brother" shirt so we could get some pictures before we left. I had all these grand ideas of cute pictures and maybe evening getting Garytt to push the stroller carrying his little brother to the car.
Reality check! Garytt had been an awesome toddler in that for two days straight he managed to entertain himself in the confines of my hospital room. Well, the third day was just too much to ask for. Prepare for post-partum mom breakdown. Everything had gone so smoothly, I just assumed this part would go as smoothly.
Unfortuantely, Garytt started having a meltdown...so this was the best family shot we got that day.
The meltdown continued and the kid that always looks for an opportunity to push a stroller wanted nothing to do with it. And he cried nearly the whole way out of the hospital.
Westyn bundled up to leave the hospital
Garytt playing with the automatic door while Justin brings the car around...he briefly quit crying to play with the doors.
Westyn waiting for the car
Although I did have a mini-breakdown about not getting the pictures that I had hoped for...and really the breakdown was probably more about how in the heck am I going to wrangled a toddler and have a newborn, I have to say that everything went smoothly at the hospital and we were all happy to be heading home!
And, of course, prior to actually leaving the hospital, we did have to get a few pictures of Westyn in an Aggie hat!
