Chicago Trip - Field Museum

We got up really early the next morning. Our plan for the day was to drive into Chicago and see both the Field Museum and Adler Planetarium, which meant that we needed to get there as early as possible.

It was quite sunny that morning, so we gave the boys their new shades for the drive.

We didn't have any issues getting into Chicago and parking, which was a relief. Check out these cool kids.

I wanted to get a few pictures in front of the Field Museum. Westyn didn't mind...Garytt thought it was too cold.

Everyone was happier once we were inside. First stop: Sue the Dino! (She's the largest, most complete t-rex skeleton.)

After checking out Sue, we wandered around looking at some wildlife.

Next we ended up in the evolution section.

We saw Lucy, one of the first hominids discovered.

Then we wandered into Ancient Egypt.

I wanted to visit Sue again to see if we could get one of the docents to take a family picture. Ok, so just FYI, when someone asks you to get a picture in front of a monument or famous statue, they actually want the famous statue in the picture. I will say that Garytt wasn't super cooperative and didn't really want to take a picture, but still! This is what we ended up with.

I decided to crop it in because it's not a horrible family picture and you can't see Sue anyway.

Anyhow, we headed upstairs after that to go see more dinosaurs. We found Sue's head in a case upstairs. Apparently the actual head is so heavy they couldn't put it out on the big display. So, the one with the rest of the body is a replica that is lighter weight.

There was also an interactive Sue puzzle that the boys liked. And once you put it together, Sue came to life on the screen.

On we went to the rest of the dinosaur exhibit.

We let each of the boys pick a toy out at the Sue store. Garytt was pretty excited about his Sue head.

By then, it was time to head over to Adler Planetarium.
