2016 Disneyland Vacation - Day 1

The highlight of our April was a trip to California. Justin attended a work conference in California in late April. On April 26, the boys and I headed to the airport to head to Cali and Disneyland, of course. Our flight was pretty early in the morning, so I just let them fly in their pjs. Thank goodness for tablets to entertain them while we wait to board!

And thank goodness for strollers even when your kids are too old to need them because I sure had a lot to push through the airport to the car rental place.

We made it to get the car and headed out to pick up Justin from the conference hotel. On the way, we stopped at a dollar store to pick up some beach toys as our first stop was an afternoon on the beach. The boys chatted the whole way to the store and to the hotel right until we parked at the hotel...fatigue finally won.

We had to wait a few minutes for Justin, so the boys were able to get a short nap in. Then it was off to the beach. Really I'm not sure if the boys were more excited about our Disneyland plans or the beach. They had been asking for a long time to go back to the beach. We didn't really have a plan for which beach we would visit, but we ended up going to the same beach we visited in 2013 in Oceanside since we already knew the town. First they played in the sand.

Then the boys and I headed to the water to put our feet in. There was a really strong undertow, even with just our ankles in the water, so I pretty much had to hold on to the boys the entire time. I was a little too afraid that if they tried to stand on their own, they would be swept off their feet and unable to recover. They still loved it!

When it was a little calmer, I did release their hands and take a few pics with my cell phone.

Finally, I was ready for a break from the concern they would be swept off their feet, so we went back to playing in the sand. They figured out that they would have better luck with the castle forms if they used the wet sand.

Then, of course, there is always the joy of just making a sand angel.

And conspiring with your brother while on the beach...

These boys had a great time at the beach! So glad we stopped on our way to Disney!

Since we planned the beach afternoon, the only plans we made for the day we arrived in Anaheim was dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. Goofy's in located in one of the hotels, so you don't need a ticket to get in and it is one of the few that has dinner reservations. Let me just say, Garytt was pretty excited to go see Goofy! He hopped and jumped the whole way in!

The obligatory pic outside Goofy's Kitchen.

And, of course, the goofy faces to go along with Goofy's Kitchen!

We checked in and were able to meet Goofy right at the front.

I just can't get over Garytt's smile in this picture...he's so thrilled to be with his favorite pal!

We had to wait a bit for our table after visiting with Goofy. So, the boys decided to start doing some rides...on the escalator.

Something was pretty awesome on the ceiling it looks like.

Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland is similar to Chef Mickey's at Disney World. They have the characters come around but then there are time when louder music comes on and they ask you to swing your napkins around and clap along while the characters dance by. The boys really get into the napkin swinging.

Goofy's Kitchen's signature dish is PB&J pizza. Westyn wasn't so sure about it but he gave it a try.

Of course meeting the characters and getting autographs is always a highlight at the character meals.

Good food, good laughs, good fun. Thanks Goofy's Kitchen for starting our Disneyland adventure off right!
